COM110 - Introduction to Broadcasting

Catalog Description: Introduces broadcasting concepts used in radio, television, computer, and satellite applications. Develops management decision practices utilizing communication theories.

Lecture: 3 hrs.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
Upon the successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
1. Compare and contrast broadcasting and narrowcasting.
2. Explain strategies for content creation for various demographics.
3. Interpret a variety of consumption metrics (ratings, shares, digital feedback, etc.)
4. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages among various modes of media distribution.
5. Evaluate programming strategies for various media (radio/TV/streaming channels).
6. Deliver a focused presentation on a chosen topic with an emphasis on non-traditional techniques.
7. Deliver a persuasive pitch focused on innovative media content.
