EGR102 - Engineering Drawing 2

Credits: 3

Catalog Description: Solves drafting problems using advanced drawing techniques. Compares CAD methods and manual drafting techniques. Areas of study include projection of surfaces, secondary auxiliary views, basic tolerancing, determining classes of fits, sheet metal drafting, geometric tolerancing, threads and fasteners, and metric practices. Requires completion of formal detailed drawings demonstrating manual drawing skills and advanced problem solving and visualization skills, following ANSI standards. Spring only. Prerequisite: EGR101.

Lecture: 2 hrs.

Lab: 2 hrs.

Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs):
Upon the successful completion of this course, a student will be able to:
1. Develop advanced mechanical drawings for parts manufacturing
2. Create production drawings to develop a shape (curved, conical, prisms, pyramids, etc.)
3. Create isometric drawings
4. Compare symbology used in welding drawings
5. Develop secondary auxiliary views used in mechanical drawings
6. Execute CAD drawings in various professional applications (Civil, Electrical, Surveying, Plumbing, Plant Layout, Landscape, Structural, Packaging, etc)
