Book Talk and Signing at the GCC Library
There were several people in attendance at the book talk and signing with local author, Melissa Ostrom, on Tues. Sept. 18th from 12:30 – 1:30 in the library’s periodical lounge. Melissa read a selection from her first published novel, The Beloved Wild, and talked about the process of getting a book published. Melissa shared suggestions on the writing and publishing process for aspiring writers, and also took many questions from those in attendance at the event. There was also talk about Melissa’s upcoming second novel. The book talk wrapped up with a signing session and some refreshments.
The Beloved Wild tells the story of 16 year old Harriet Winter, from her life in New England where she has reached the age to marry but remains unsure and rebellious about this next chapter of her life, to her decision to travel with her brother to the Genesee Valley, disguised as a boy, and the adventures she has as a result. Aimed at Young Adults and highlighting local places in Western New York, Melissa’s book is a delightful story that’s suitable for readers aged 13 and up.
