“For 25 years I worked in electronics, mostly in male dominated fields. I was proud of that work, but the physical demands and the repetitive nature of the job were starting to take a toll. As I began thinking about my pre and post retirement years, I knew I wanted to learn something new and challenge myself in a different way.

That is what brought me to the accounting program at Genesee Community College. When I heard about Genesee 4 Life, it felt like the perfect opportunity to start planning my next chapter. I have a husband, two kids, and a dog, so flexibility matters. With so many GCC courses offered online, choosing GCC was an easy decision.

Genesee 4 Life is a program that allows any GCC graduate who has completed an associate degree, no matter the graduation year, to come back and take additional classes tuition free. It gave me the chance to continue my education without the financial stress and to focus on building skills for my future.

If I were promoting GCC, I would highlight the low cost of earning your initial degree and then the incredible value of Genesee 4 Life. It opens the door to lifelong learning and new possibilities at any stage of life.”
